New Year, New Me

I don’t believe in love at first sight,

But I no longer think that love will bite.

You’ll hear the term “New Year, New Me.”

But based off discovery, that can’t be.

When you say “New Year, New Me.”

You speak of a reality that you cannot see.

So are you looking for another fight,

Or do you just want to sleep at night.

You have no sense of what will be,

So let the new year do its own thing.

Sure, you can change things here or there,

But a new you won’t make anyone care.

One change won’t make people gawk or stare,

I know this because I’ve been there.

One year you’re here, the next you’re there,

But there’s more than one path to the same square.

Be who you are or be what you want.

Either decision endures a taunt.

Choose what you want and do as you please.

You can always change to some degree.

Bold is who you are,

You yourself can get pretty far,

When you mold yourself into who you want to be,

You will lose reality to what you would rather see.
